Kao Hua-chu, the Minister of National Defense for the Republic of China (Taiwan), is a legendary figure in the army. In 1974, Kao took a helicopter with his colleagues, including Yu Hao-chang, Commanding General of Army Command Headquarters. The aircraft crashed killing more than 20 people and seriously injuring Kao, yet he still managed to carry Yu on his back as he looked for help.
