Celebrated Taiwanese ceramic artist Lien Pao-tsai launched an exhibition entitled Notes on the Soul at the Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park on Nov. 16.
The exhibition, which includes ceramics and oil paintings, is something new from Lien. The pieces contain both humor and warnings which urge protection of the natural environmental, education, care for humanity and an appreciation of aesthetics.
A winner of the Asian Pacific Art Institute of America's 20th Century Art Accomplishment award, Lien is a 40-year veteran in the field of ceramic art. She specializes in mixing sharp and soft elements in the same work. For this exhibition, she uses clay, iron and paint. She has also turned her Notes on the Soul into a giant 3D children's book touching on serious topics such as drugs, violence, hunger, and care for the elderly and people with AIDS.
The exhibition will run until Dec. 20.
