Justin Lee, son of Yuanta Financial Holdings director Li Yueh-tsang, has been charged with drugging and raping 15 women who worked in nightclubs or as models, as well as videotaping his assaults. Lee also failed to appear in court after Taipei prosecutors issued him a summons on Aug. 1, according to our Chinese-language sister newspaper China Times.
The 27-year-old, known for frequenting fashion parties and flings with female performers, is considered a notorious figure in Taipei's nightclub scene.
In July last year, two sisters accused Justin Lee of doping and raping the elder of the two and videotaped the encounter as evidence. Prosecutors considered Lee was suspected of sexual assault after reviewing the evidence, and asked the Taipei District Court to bring him into custody, but the court considered the evidence insufficient to convict Lee of sexual assault and he was released without bail.
In the process of their investigation, however, the prosecutors found Lee in possession of a batch of sex videos in which most of the women appeared to be in a state of unconsciousness. The prosecutors found there are over 20 "leading artists" in Lee's videos, only a few of whom appeared to be conscious and consenting, while 15 women appeared to be in a drugged state.
The local Chinese-language gossip magazine Next reported the scandal on Wednesday, accompanied by a number of photos of female artists, including actress Terri Kwan. The female artists the magazine implied were involved in Lee's videos have demanded Next Magazine clarify its report or they will take legal action.
Three other female artists, Wu Ya-xin, Pai Hsin-hui and Lin Wei-ju, who have also been reported to be related to the scandal, have urged the media to exercise self-restraint or they too will take legal action to protect their reputation.
Terri Kwan's agent Chiu Li-kuan angrily demanded Next issue a clarification and an apology. The magazine claimed later that Kwan was not on the list of performers supposedly involved but they had used her photo for extra publicity.
