When a man in central China's Henan province went out with a woman he had met online on May 8, he was later viciously attacked by her jealous boyfriend and his friends after the date.

The 27-year-old Gao Xin (not his real name) met the woman for their appointment and was later accosted by her angry boyfriend on the street. The man and three of his friends attacked Gao, inserting a 1.2-meter computer wire into his urethra.

Gao felt too ashamed to go to hospital after the incident. He spent a day trying to remove the wire by himself but was ultimately forced to seek medical attention. Gao was also afraid to tell his parents about what had happened and asked friends for help in covering the medical costs, his doctor said.

The doctor removed the wire by cutting a 1mm slit into Gao's stomach. The injury and surgery will not cause permanent damage to his reproductive function, the doctor said.
