China's first female masturbation club was established in September by three bold university students, according to Phoenix Net, the website of the Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV.
Club members assert that masturbation is a normal practice and reject conservative social values that cause people to feel uneasy about the act of self-love. Below are some of their tenets:
The benefits of celibacy:
"Men just want to be with you so they can enjoy the 'physical benefits' of the relationship. If they really liked you, they would not be in such a rush to make love. Many of my friends say that the actual experience of sex is not as magical as books describe, so it is best not to attach yourself to another man. I would rather enjoy a sex life with myself!"
"When I had a boyfriend, I had not had any previous experience with sex and was afraid that if we decided to try one day, I would be ridiculous and clumsy. I read magazines and websites to try and understand what to do and came across articles describing masturbation as a way of understanding and experiencing sexuality. Through masturbation, we can come to understand our own body and how to achieve orgasm."
"I have been with my boyfriend for two years and previously we were perfect together in every aspect except for our sex life. I would tell him how to do it and he would get upset when it did not work. Finally, through his persistence and my increased understanding, I am able to enjoy making love with him. I found that when I totally understand how my body works, I can reach satisfaction and happiness with him, and it is much easier to feel close to him."
The club also interviewed four female students to check when, where and how they are most likely to reach orgasm.
They found out that riding a bike, wearing tight jeans, facing pressure, watching or reading porn, or experiencing physical contact after having been apart from a partner for a significant period of time are the situations in which sexual climax occurs most easily.
Furthermore, they suggested that when masturbating, the most important thing is to take care of personal hygiene. If any uncomfortable feeling occurs such as congestion, minor damage to the urethra, or infection of the bladder or kidney, you should go to the hospital to be checked, they said.
